Zap: Congrats on joining Zap, CJ! How did it all go down?
CJ: Thanks! I’m stoked for what’s in store for sure. My homie, Monster, actually hooked me up with it!
Zap: What’s your favorite part of skimboarding?
CJ: The feeling of getting a good wrap on a wave. There’s nothing better.
Zap: Who’s your usual crew to skim with?
CJ: Most of the time, it’s with my boy @skimsfl!
Zap: What are some of your other hobbies outside of skimming?
CJ: Anything with a board really. I love surfing, skateboarding, and of course, just hanging out at the beach.
Zap: What’s your favorite kind of music? Or artist these days?
CJ: I’ve been listening to Shawny Binladen a lot. It gets me pumped to get out to the beach.
Zap: What keeps you inspired to push your skimming?
CJ: I love watching the groms come into their own and helping them along the way. That really gets me stoked. Also, just pushing the sport in general!
Zap: What are some of your goals for 2023?
CJ: I really just want to concentrate on having as much fun as possible! I’d love to travel a good bit and I definitely want to turn pro!
Zap: What do you do to keep yourself in skimming shape?
CJ: I try to eat as healthy as I can and get out as often as possible.
Zap: What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen in Florida?
CJ: That’s probably the time I saw a 13 foot hammerhead shark right on the shore at my home break! Pretty crazy.
Zap: If you had to pick, would it be liners or wraps?
CJ: Oh man, I love a good wrap to liner! But if I had to choose, I would do wraps all day.
Zap: How are you digging your new boards?
CJ: I’m definitely in love with these boards: The Raptor and the Prowler! They feel better on my feet than what I had been riding. So much speed on both boards! The Raptor is the perfect board for tech and it launches too. The turning on it is beautiful. It’s so good for my style of riding. The Prowler is a little heavier which is great for those windier days. The board just flys out to the wave and down the line. Perfect for those clean far out days too. Thanks again, Zap!
